Another fighter following me on twitter!

A fighter from the UK, Abdul Mohamed just started following me today! He is 19-8-3 but fought to a five round draw with Paul Daley, and beat Ross Pearson. I am just super pumped because I think he is the second fighter to follow me, the first is Diego Sanchez. I am sure nearly everyone knows about Diego Sanchez and the Yes Cartwheel. (I love Jesus and shouting yes too!) I just love how approachable MMA fighters are. You can follow both of these fighters, Abdul Mohamed @SlamminMohamed and Diego Sanchez @DiegoSanchez505. Oh and I forgot MusclePharm, the official sponsor of the WEC and Michael Vick started following me too. Follow them @MusclePharm. Mixed Martial Arts is bar none the best sport ever.

Japanese MMA aka Pride Never Die

Just read on the MMA news/blog site http://mma-japan.com/ that OneFC, which is a new MMA promotion that will have shows all over Asia and be based out of Singapore will be utilizing modified PrideFC rules combined with the unified rules. They will contest fights in a cage, most likely an octagonal, hexagonal, or some other multi-sided geometrical shaped cage as well as allow elbows, which Pride, the Japanese promotion bought out by Zuffa in 2007 and brought crashing down by a Yakuza scandal, did not allow. What PrideFC did allow, and OneFC will allow are soccer kicks, and head stomps. It does not say but I am hoping that knees to a downed opponent are also included. These later types of strikes are not allowed by the UFC or the unified rules. I am hoping that with enough exposure, that these strikes can be shown to be safe enough to be permited within the confines of a UFC cage.

In addition to this news One FC has already announced the following fighters as a partial list of their roster:

Anuwat Kaewsamrit (Thailand) - 6x Muay Thai World Champion.
Eduard Folayang (Philippines) - Multi-titled Wushu fighter, Martial Combat Champion, and URCC Champion.
Bao Li Gao (China) - Sanda World Champion
Kwang Hee Lee (Korea) - Spirit MC Champion
Namsaknoi Yudthagarngamtorn (Thailand) - 6x Muay Thai World Champion
Eddie Ng (Hong Kong) - Total Combat FC Champion, and top prospect from Hong Kong.
Adam Kayoom (Malaysia) - Malaysia Champion and XFC Champion, one of the top prospect from the country.
Zhao Zhi Long (China) - Sanda World Champion
Zorobabel Moreira (Brazil/Singapore) - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion, recently won against Ferrid Kheder.
Kevin Belingon (Philippines) - Undefeated URCC Champion, a Lakay Wushu product who is one of the best bantamweights in Asia.
Yodsanan Sityodtong (Thailand) - Former WBA Boxing World Champion, probably the most talented boxer to cross-over to MMA. Trains with all the Muay Thai and BJJ champs from Evolve MMA.
Ole Laursen (Denmark / Philippines) - Martial Combat, and Muay Thai World Champion. A K-1 Veteran who is the #8 ranked lightweight on BloodyElbow's World Scouting Report
Soo Chul Kim (Korea) - Rising On Champion, and Undefeated Road FC veteran
Mitch Chilson (USA / Singapore) - 2-Time Martial Combat Champion
Leandro Issa (Brazil/Singapore) - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and Martial Combat Champion,
Eric Kelly (Philippines), Undefeated URCC Champion,
Orono Wor Petchpun (Thailand) - 5x Muay Thai World Champion
Ba Teer (China) - Sanda World Champion
Gregor Gracie (Brazil) - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion, 4-1 in his MMA career.
Yoddecha Sityodtong (Thailand) - Muay Thai World Champion
Rolles Gracie (Brazil) - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion, and UFC Veteran, who is 4-1 in his MMA career.
Malik Arash Malawyi (Afghanistan) - Afghanistan Champion and Martial Combat Champion
Igor Gracie (Brazil) - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion, and Strikeforce Veteran, who is 3-2 in his MMA career.

This roster and additional video can be found at One FC Announces List of Champions on Their Roster, Unveils Plans to Host Shows Around Asia, the news article on BloodyElbow that I originally found all this information at. Needless to say this sounds extremely exciting and maybe the global monopoly that Zuffa seems to have is not to be. We will see what occurs from this but in a perfect world the UFC and the unified rules would also end up adopting this rule set. All of these strikes cause less damage than elbows to the head, as is exemplified any time Kenny Florian fights, and they would possibly lower the prevalence of lay and pray fighting, or stalling, as it is more commonly known in wrestling circles. In my opinion taking someone down and laying on them is not fighting, it isn't even wrestling, so hopefully the reintroduction of Pride rules changes this.

UFC 133

So on of my favorite fighters and an NCCC alum is fighting on August 6th. Rashad Evans is poised to re-claim the #1 contenders spot at 205 lbs, but this card has gone through some injury troubles. Much like the rest of the first half of the year, with 7 out of 13 total main events needing changing. First Kenny Florian was hurt prior to UFC Fight for the Troops 2, then Rashad Evans had to pull out of the title fight with Shogun Rua at UFC 128, resulting in Jon Jones taking his place, beating Rua senseless and taking the belt which started the feud between Jones and Evans. Then Tito Ortiz had to pull out of Fight Night Seattle with a cracked skull or some other excuse. Thiago Silva failed a drug test after UFC 126 and could not fight at UFC 130 against Rampage, resulting in being replaced with Matt Hamill. The Rampage vs Hamill fight ended up being the main event for UFC 130 after both Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard pulled out of the lightweight title fight with injuries. Brock Lesnar suffered another bout of diverticulitis and was forced out of his fight with Junior Dos Santos being replaced with Shane Carwin at UFC 131. Then Anthony Johnson was injured before UFC Live on Versus 4, and Nate Marquardt had his TRT problems, resulting in being temporarily suspending in Pennsylvania and being cut from the UFC.

Now this card is full of issues. First Phil Davis was forced to pull out of the fight and the UFC asked both Lyoto Machida and Tito Ortiz if they would take the fight against Evans on short notice. Ortiz, fresh off of his comeback choke out victory over Ryan Bader at UFC 132, which no one really saw coming, said no and Machida said yes. Then Machida came back and said he wanted "Anderson Silva" money, or at least his management did. The UFC was not down with that and for some reason Ortiz changed his mind and decided to take the Rashad Evans fight on short notice.

However the train of injury pain that has been going on all year is far from over with this card. First Vladimir Matyushenko was forced out of his Spike TV prelim with Alexander Gustafsson and replaced by Matt Hamill. Now Antonio Rogerio Nogueira was forced out of his bout (Chael Sonnen would probably say he was hit by a bus while feeding it a carrot) with Rich Franklin and they are trying to find another suitable replacement for the co-main event of this card.

Anyway I am hoping that this card is exciting and that the injury bug does not plague any more cards as there some absolutely stacked fights in the fall, with UFC 134 having Anderson Silva versus Yushin Okami in Brazil along with a stacked undercard that seems to have half of the nation of Brazil on it, UFC 135 having Jon Jones in his first light heavyweight title defense against Rampage Jackson in Denver Colorado, UFC 136 having two title fights in the Edgar vs Maynard trilogy finally ending and the co-main event being Jose Aldo defending his featherweight title against Kenny Florian. This card will be in Houston, Texas and also features the return of no other than Chael Sonnen against the All-American with knockout power the decorated United States Marine Brian Stann. UFC 137 has the GSP defense against Nick Diaz, former Strikeforce welterweight champion and the pride of Stockton California. Then UFC 138 goes out to San Jose, California and features the first Mexican Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez in his first title defense against Junior Dos Santos after his beating of Shane Carwin for the number one heavyweight contenders spot. Maybe if we are lucky we will get to see Dominick Cruz by the end of the year as well following his "Fight of the Year" candidate bout with Uriah Faber.  This is not taking into account all the awesome undercard fights that will be happened on these cards, including Guilliard versus Lauzon at UFC 136, and Carlos Condit versus BJ Penn for a possible #1 welterweight contenders spot at UFC 137.

Back to UFC 133. I will probably have some more stuff on this card as August 6th draws closer and I really hope they can find a good explosive fun fighter to go against Rich Franklin.

I like it...I wear it

My really good friend Drew has a great men's fashion blog called I like it...I wear it. Drew has some of the best style of anyone I know and got me started on reading GQ magazine a few years ago. If you enjoy fashion or even if you just want to find out more about it this is definitely a page you should check out.

Sunday Afternoon

I just woke up at 12:30 and should probably find something to eat. Today I am going to do some more reading and study for a Spanish exam that I have tomorrow. I also have a Skype interview for a job at 9 am tomorrow morning and then I am meeting with a graduate admissions advisor to see if it would be possible for me to go to graduate school at Franciscan University.

Bloody Elbow - Pound-for-Pound the Best in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Commentary, News and Community

This is definitely my favorite MMA news blog. I go here every day I can.

I need to get to sleep earlier

I think I am an insomniac. I am going to bed by 11 tomorrow night no matter what it takes. I am really hungry right now too. I do have that other steak I could still eat. I really do just have a stream of consciousness style to the way I write. It is quite unique but I enjoy it. I am also going to read after I finish posting this, and it is apparent to me that I use far too many references to myself while writing.

This Blog is Resurrected!

I just re-discovered my old blog from a few years ago, and have decided to resurrect it on a slow Saturday in Steubenville. Gosh the only thing that I am thinking about right now is how good God is to me and that steak, cheesy rice and sweet potatoes and broccoli taste awesome. I made those three things for dinner. If anyone reading this likes coffee check out Biggy Coffee. It is definitely awesome. I have been making frappachinos all day long. I love my blender. Anyway on the God side of my life I am working on two books, Blessed are the Bored in Spirit by Mark Hart and Be an Man! by Fr. Larry Richards. These are such good books.

Anyway my aim is to keep updating my blog at least on a daily basis for all of those billions who are interested in what is going on in my life. Follow Mark on twitter at @LT_TheBiblegeek, and go look at Biggby Coffee! Follow me on twitter @Roger_Anderson3
